Lobbying
We have raised the sector’s profile in the political sphere thanks to last year’s Money for Change campaign and our continued engagement with ministers, MPs and senior officials. This was recently reflected in the Coalition Government’s recent green paper on access to finance, which stated that CDFIs have an important role to play.
We represent the sector in our responses to government consultations – for which we always seek members’ views. In the last 12 months we have submitted the following consultation responses:
- Social Investment Wholesale Bank consultation, October 2009
- HM Treasury Review of Money Laundering Regulations, December 2009
- Developing the banking and financial services available at the Post Office, February 2010
- Consumer Credit Licensing Fees, March 2010
- Bills of Sale consultation, March 2010
- BIS Select Committee Inquiry into Local Enterprise Partnerships, August 2010
- Financing a Private Sector Recovery, September 2010
We have also given members the opportunity to give their feedback to government officials at events such as the Social Investment Wholesale Bank meeting with the Office of the Third Sector; and roundtable discussions with BIS and DWP.
