What we do
The cdfa is here to support the Community Development Finance sector. We do this through:
- Our engagement with government on behalf of CDFIs and the communities they serve.
- Development and training programmes for both organisations and individuals.
- Our Change Matters performance framework and Code of Practice.
- A stimulating programme of events and networking opportunities.
- Offering our members advice, information and consultancy when they need it.
And much, much more!
Members and supporters of the cdfa have a common goal – to see CDFIs help their customers turn economically disadvantaged areas into flourishing, prosperous communities. It’s the cdfa’s job to help CDFIs do this. Find out more about the benefits of becoming a member of the cdfa.
Some examples of recent successes have included:
- Having the sector’s achievements recognised in a report commissioned by the Government. GHK’s Evaluation of CDFIs, which drew upon information and statistics provided by cdfa, called for ‘continued public sector support’ for CDFIs.
- Leading the international field of community development finance with the cdfa’s Code of Practice. The European Commission were impressed when our CEO Bernie Morgan presented the Code of Practice in Brussels this February – the UK is the only country to have one, and it is a condition of membership to the cdfa. Read about what happened on Bernie’s blog and find out more about the Code of Practice.
- Securing a commitment by the Government to use the proceeds of a new “community levy” on high street banks to increase lending by CDFIs.
